Darla Gabel

Darla Jean Gabel (nee Peters), 68, of Vermilion, died Thursday, June 4, 2020 at Mercy Regional Medical Center, Lorain after a sudden illness. She was born February 13, 1952 in Norwalk and has been a life long Vermilion resident. Darla graduated from Vermilion High School in 1970 and had worked for Oak Hills Nursing Home as a Nurses Aid. She was a member of Evergreen Baptist Church, Amherst and loved animals. She is survived by her sister, Cheryl (Harvey) Workman of Vermilion; brother, Thomas Peters of Vermilion; 2 nieces, several step-children; and many step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur "Sonny" Gabel Jr. in 2009; parents, Clarence and Mary (nee Croll) Peters; and her sister, Doris Morris. The family will receive friends on Monday, June 8, 2020 from 4-8 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio. All are welcome to attended, a limited number of people will be allowed in the funeral home at one time with proper social distancing. Funeral services will be Tuesday, June 9, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at the Riddle Funeral Home. Pastor Randy Crabtree will officiate. Interment will follow at Birmingham Cemetery.
