Darren Lee West

May 17, 1968 — November 8, 2015

Darren Lee West On Sunday, November 8, 2015 Darren went home to be with the Lord at his home in Lima, Peru. He was born, May 17, 1968 in Green County, Kettering, Ohio . He lived with his family at the facilities on Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, until he moved with his mother back to her hometown in Vermilion. He went to grade school at South Street School across from his home and attended the first two years of high school in Vermilion. The last two years were spent at EHOVE learning about food services. Right after graduation he purchased Nemo's Sub Sandwich Shop in town, and had that shop for several years. He also worked as a waiter and eventually, cook in the kitchen of Chez Francois on Main Street . He went on to college at The Culinary Institute in Providence, Rhode Island. After college, he bought a house in Cleveland, and worked for Greyhound Bus Lines for five years until finally driving for the RTA close to his home. Darren loved music and sang all through his high school years and about four more years after that. He sang in churches every Sunday all over Ohio until he lost a lung. He went to visit friends in Peru. He fell in love with the area, and decided to stay. For the last four years, he has served high-end dinners in Peru who wanted fancy food cooked and served in their homes for important occasions or just fun parties. Darren is survived by his father, Larry L. Lambert; his mother, Barbara (West) Feiszli and his sister Lisa L. (Lambert) Bivins. According to his wishes, there will be no services except for a small family -only gathering after his remains have arrived home from Peru. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, December 19, 2015 at 1 pm at Maple Grove Cemetery, Vermilion. He will be near his great grandparents, Otis and Lillian West and his grandparents, Lindy and Dorothy West. The family asks that memorial contributions be sent " In Memory of Darren West" to the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio 44089. Contributions will help purchase a vault in which his ashes can be buried; or toward the purchase of a small marker to show where he will be laid to rest. The family wishes to thank everyone for their show of love for Darren.
