David E Hoff

David E. Hoff, 75, of Vermilion, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, May 6, 2018 at his home. Dave was born March 3, 1943 in Lorain, OH, and was a life long Vermilion resident. He was a veteran of the US Army. He fought in combat during the Vietnam War and earned a Bronze Star. Dave worked for JL Robbins as a roofing foreman retiring in 2006. He also worked for Fruehauf Construction. He was a member of the Roofers and Waterproofers Local 44 in Cleveland, a lifetime member of AMVETS Post # 22, and the American Legion Post #397. He enjoyed antique radios, karate, shooting at the gun range, bowling, and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is survived by his daughters, Jamie (William) Fuqua of Ada, OH and Krissie (Steve) Pritchett of Dry Ridge, KY; son, Joe Whatmore; brothers, Ross W. (Carol) Hoff and Richard E Hoff; sister, Diana (Dave) Downs; 14 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Linda D. (nee McMillin) Hoff; son, Michael Hoff; parents Offutt Ross and Edith (nee Lassen) Hoff; and sister, Barbara Hoff. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 9, 2018 from 1-3 pm and 6-8 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio. Funeral services will be on Thursday, May 10, 2018 at 11:00 am at the funeral home. Mr. Richard Hoff will officiate.
