David Cecil Ward, 74, of Vermilion, died Saturday, July 30, 2011 at his home after a 5 year battle with cancer. David was born January 15, 1937 in Glenn Falls, WV, and has been a Vermilion resident for the past 42 years moving from South Amherst . He worked for Ford Motor Co. as an Inspector for 32 years retiring in 1991. David was a member of the Bow and Barrel Archery Club for over 42 years and the IBO (International Bowhunting Organization).....we lost another outlaw. He enjoyed archery, bow hunting, and teaching archery to children. He is survived by his sons, David (Gina) S. Ward of Vermilion, Shawn (Michelle) Ward of Ft. Myers, FL, Shannon (Kerry) Ward of Cumming, GA, and Andy Ward of Vermilion; 6 grandchildren: Sarah and Katie Olsen, Ashley, Aaron, Aidan, and Abbie Ward; daughter-in-law, Kimberly Ward; brothers: Ralph (Boots) Ward of Webster, FL, Charles Ward of Beech Island, SC, Delbert Ward of Mt. Clair, WV, Lonnie "Joe" (Connie) Ward of Lost Creek, WV, and Larry Ward of Elyria; half sisters, Margaret and Madeline of WV; half brothers Johnnie & Jimmy of WV, and sister-in-law Gin Ward of Berlin Hts. He was preceded in death by his parents John David and Lavern (nee Case) Ward and step mother Sarah Ward; son Todd Ward in 1996; and brothers, Richard "Dick" and Donald "Don" Ward. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2011 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm and Wednesday, Aug. 3 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street Vermilion Ohio.
