David Nicholas Whyde, 39, of Vermilion, died peacefully Thursday, October 9, 2014 at his home. Nick was born March 18, 1975 in Milan and had been a Vermilion resident for the past 5 years. He graduated from Edison High School in 1993 then preceded to Bowling Green State University where he earned his bachelors degree. Nick enjoyed his long career with Barnes Nursery as a respected foreman. The most important part of Nick Whyde's life was being a devoted husband and loving father to his boys. He also found much happiness being in the outdoors, especially camping and hiking. He is survived by his wife of 7 years, Christine M. (nee Cook) of Vermilion; sons, Quin (4) and Duncan (1); parents, David and Barbara (nee Peat) Whyde of Milan; sisters, Cindy (Todd) Livengood of Milan, Laurie (Kevin) Wallick of Dover, Bridget Moore of Pinconning, Michigan, and Jill (Toby) Gibson of Milan; and his paternal grandmother, Doris Whyde of Castalia. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, James Whyde, and maternal grandparents, Odis and Evelyn Peat. The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 12, 2014 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, OH. Friends may also call on Monday October 13, 2014 from 5:00 pm until the time of the service at 6:00 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, Chaplin Mel Sayler will officiate.
