Dennis R. Jabbusch

Dennis R. Jabbusch, 60 of Vermilion , died Thursday, November 13, 2008 in MetroHealth Medical Center after a sudden illness. He was born June 18, 1948 in Lorain, OH where he had been a life long resident until moving to Vermilion in 2001. Dennis was a veteran of the US Army serving in Vietnam. He received the Purple Heart, 4 bronze stars, two Vietnam Service Medals, the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, and the Army Commendation Medal. He retired form Lake Terminal Rail Road in 1999 after 30 years as a Locomotive Engineer. He was a life long member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Lorain where he was a dedicated volunteer for the Second Harvest Food Bank of North Central OH. He was also a member of the VFW post 451 where he served as post Chaplin from 2002-2003 and was currently assistant acting post Chaplin; a Life Member of the 11th Armored Cavalry's Vietnam and Cambodia; Amvets Post #22; and the Gold Wing Road Riders Association. He enjoyed traveling, especially on his motorcycle, and was a Mustang enthusiast. Survivors include his wife of 6 years Carol "Jeannie" Jabbusch, sons, Keith and Kelly Jabbusch of Jacksonville, FL, and Joseph Jabbusch of Elyria; daughter, Penny Jabbusch of Shelby, NC; step-daughter, Katie and Julio Ramirez of Elyria; step-sons, Paul Parker of Scio, OH; and Greg and Ida Graybeal of Plymouth, OH; 11 grandchildren; sister, Carol and John Hughett of Lorain; and 2 nieces. Preceding him in death were his parents, Alfred and Emilie (nee Vayda) Jabbusch, and step-son Charles Edward Graybeal. Friends may call Monday, November 17, 2008 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio. Services will be held at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church 603 Washington Ave. Lorain, Tuesday, November 18, 2008 at 11:00 am. The Rev. Linwood Chamberlain will officiate. Interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Vermilion with Military Honors presented by the VFW Post 451. Memorial contributions may be made to the Second Harvest Food Bank North Central OH.
