Dennis Philbrick 'Phil' Schnabel

Dennis Philbrick "Phil" Schnabel, 81, of Vermilion, died Thursday, August 30, 2018 at Mercy Regional Medical Center after a short illness. He was born December 8, 1936 in Gary, IN and had been a Vermilion resident for the past 12 years moving from Amherst. Phil was a veteran of the US Marines. He owned Phil's Property Maintenance and had also been a truck driver for many years. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Vermilion and often volunteered with Grace's Kitchen. Phil was also a member of the VFW Post #7576 and loved woodworking and animals, especially his dog, Grady Sizemore. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Marcia "Marci" (nee Kirkpatrick) Schnabel of Vermilion; son, Kirk Patrick Schnabel of FL; brother-in-law, Anthony Kirkpatrick and step-brother, Jim Anderson of Oberlin; and long time friend whom he considered a daughter, Jody Wilson. He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Mildred (nee North) Schnabel, step brother, Ray Anderson, and mother and father-in-law, Lois and Kenneth Kirkpatrick.
