Derek A. Bowen

Derek A. Bowen, 64, of Vermilion, died Thursday, March 23, 2017 at Mercy Regional Medical Center after a short illness. He was born November 18, 1952 in Lorain and had been a life long Vermilion resident. Derek graduated from Vermilion High School and worked for the City of Vermilion on the Street Department for 38 years retiring in 2010. He enjoyed riding his Harley Davidsons and spending time with his family. He is survived by his sons, Jason (Jennifer) Bowen of Huron and Jonathan Bowen of Vermilion; daughter, Saunja Battle of Castalia; grandchildren: Seth, Jared, Dawson, Alliyah, and Liam; adopted son, Josh Bowen of Swanton and his children; sister, Sharon 'Sherry" Skinner of Vermilion; and his brothers, Stephen Bowen of Westfield, NY and Douglas (Rita) Bowen of Elyria, OH. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Elizabeth (nee Moore) Bowen. The family will receive friends on Monday, March 27, 2017 from 4-8 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio.
