Dianne S Mosley

July 2, 1928 — December 22, 2024

Dianne S. Mosley (née Stitt), 96, a 54-year resident of Vermilion, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 22, 2024, at Vitalia Adult Community after a lengthy illness.

Born on July 2, 1928, in Blairsville, PA, Dianne graduated as valedictorian of her class at Clairton (PA) High School. She continued her education at Carnegie Tech, where she met her beloved husband, John, marrying in 1948. A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Dianne’s life revolved around her family.

Dianne’s faith in Jesus Christ was the cornerstone in her life. She was most recently an active member of Christ Church West Shore in Avon Lake as well as in the healing ministry Order of St. Luke. Wherever she lived, she served on various Church Councils and committees at her church.  She taught all levels of Sunday School and led various Bible studies, including one in the Vermilion area for over 30 years.

Her adventurous spirit led her to explore the world, from the Holy Land to crossing the Atlantic on the Queen Mary; from whitewater rafting the Colorado River in her 60s to traveling throughout Europe; from attending C.S. Lewis conferences in England to watching World Figure Skating Championships across North America; from sailing the Intracoastal Waterway from New England to Florida to enjoying a hot air balloon ride. She especially treasured taking each of her seven grandchildren on individual trips to Disney World.

Dianne also had a deep commitment to her community. She served on the Civil Service Commission for the City of Vermilion, was treasurer of her homeowners’ association for over 25 years, started a kindergarten when a levy failed, and delivered Meals on Wheels. She was also recognized as a top judge for high school speech and debate competitions.

Dianne enjoyed reading, golfing, playing bridge, and was a 35-year season ticket holder for her and John's beloved Cleveland Browns. At 90 years old, she led her family as one of the oldest contestants ever on the TV show Family Feud.

She leaves behind a loving family to cherish her memory: her children, Marcia (Thomas) Geary of Amherst, Wendy (Alfred) Hirsch of Huachuca City,  Arizona, and Wayne (Terri) Mosley of Strongsville; grandchildren, Benjamin Geary, Elizabeth Geary Brass, John Michael and David Burley, Sarah (Burley) Boone, and Erik and Kevin Mosley; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, John Mosley, and her parents, Harry and Billie (née Johnston) Stitt.

Family and friends are invited to honor Dianne’s life during visitation on Friday, December 27, 2024, from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion.
