Dick Sherwood

Marion Richard "Dick" Sherwood, 85, of Venice FL, died Monday March 1, 2021, at Manor Care, Venice, after a long illness. Dick was born September 22, 1935, in Wakeman, Ohio, and had been a lifelong Vermilion, Ohio, area resident, spending winters in Venice,Florida.. A veteran of the US Army during the Korean War era, he always remembered his positive experiences, including playing on the Post baseball team. Dick was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Vermilion, Ohio. Club affiliations were with the Wakeman Eagles, and the American Legion and Moose in Venice. He enjoyed all sports as well as spending time with his family. An avid golfer, he accomplished a remarkable four holes in one during his golfing days. He always said that his favorite job of all time, was working at Thunderbird Golf Course after his retirement from Ford! He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Joyce (Boger) Sherwood, sons, Scott (Melva)Sherwood of Vermilion Marc (Mindy) Sherwood of Fayetteville AR, grandchildren Max and Franki Sherwood, and his step great grandchildren, Ben and Charlie Weaver.. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Margaret (Patrick) Sherwood and brother, Robert Sherwood. Graveside service for family and friends will be held in Maple Grove Cemetery (Mason Road) at 2:00 pm on Monday, July 19th. A Celebration of his life will follow.
