Donald James Bloker

November 2, 1922 — June 9, 2014

Donald James Bloker, 91, of Vermilion, died Monday, June 9, 2014 at New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph, Lorain after a short illness. He was born November 2, 1922 in Sandusky and had been a Vermilion resident for the past 52 years also living in Venice, FL for the past 21 years. Donald was a veteran of the US Marine Corp serving during WWII. He graduated from Ohio Northern where he was a member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity. He was a pharmacist with Upjohn Pharmaceutical Co. and worked in pharmaceutical sales retiring in 1987. He was a member of the Emanuel United Church of Christ, Sebring, AMVETS Post #22, American Legion Post # 397, Elks Club, Sandusky, and the Vermilion Boat Club. He enjoyed boating, fishing, golfing, and working outside. He is survived by his daughter, Renee (Fred) Martin of Marquette, MI and 3 granddaughters: Lindsey, Andrea, and Stephanie Bloker. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Roseann Bloker in 1987; second wife, Margaret "Peg" Krantz Bloker in 2010; son, Bruce Bloker in 2013; and parents, Norbert and Eleanor (nee Fritz) Bloker Graveside services will be Monday, June 16, 2014 at 11:30 am at Maple Grove Cemetery, Vermilion. The Reverend Louis Bertoni will officiate and the Vermilion Veterans Council will conduct military honors.
