Donald A. Chevalier, 73, of Vermilion, died Friday, April 8, 2011 at his home after a lengthy illness. Born February 23, 1938 in North Irwin, PA, he had been a Vermilion resident for the past 42 years moving from North Irwin, PA. He was a veteran of the US Army and the Army National Guard. Don worked as a Mechanical draftsman for 13 years for Westinghouse Electric, East Pittsburgh, PA, in 1969 he worked for Lorain Products as a mechanical designer and computer aided electrical design; and retired from Emerson Power in 2000 after 31 years. He enjoyed carving Kachina dolls out of wood and collecting old comic books and tin toys. He was an avid sports fan and especially enjoyed watching the Pittsburg Steelers. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Irma (nee Fleming) Chevalier; daughters, Sherrie Lee (Craig) Nelson of Edison and Bobbie Jean (Tim) Blackford of Kenton; son, Michael Donald (Christina) Chevalier of Kimball, MI; 7 grandchildren: Toni, Marisa, Ashton, Colyn, Jacqui, Gabriel, and Alena; great-grandson, Carson; and brother, Robert Francis Chevalier of Wilmington, NC. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Anna (nee Shellgren) Chevalier; brothers, Chuck, Ron, and Jim Chevalier; and a sister, Thelma Stanley. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 12, 2011 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street Vermilion OH. Funeral services will be Wednesday, April 13, 2011 at 1:30 pm at Trinity Lutheran Church, Vermilion. The Reverend Terry Parker will officiate. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, Vermilion.
