Donald D. Craig

Donald D. Craig, 69, of Vermilion, died Sunday, April 12, 2020 at his home after a brief illness. He was born March 2, 1951 in Lorain and had been a Vermilion resident for the past 37 years moving from Lorain. Donnie was a veteran of the US Army serving during Vietnam. Donnie worked in maintenance for National Gypsum, Lorain retiring after 30 years. He was a member of the Eagles and American Legion Post #397. Donnie loved watching sports, spending time with his dogs, and he especially enjoyed spending time with his family. Donnie touched many lives as a friend and neighborhood Dad to many kids growing up. We affectionately call him the man with a Golden Heart and loved him dearly. He is survived by his daughters, Sarah Ganim of Fort Meyers, FL, Leah (Mike) LaCrosse, and Laura (Paul Havice) Craig of Vermilion; grandchildren, Shawn, Mark, and Elizabeth Ganim and Jayden and Andrew LaCrosse; nephew, Aaron Proskerenko; and his niece, Natalie Smith. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Delores (nee Broyles) Craig and his sister and brother in law, Kathy and Mike Proskerenko.
