Donald D. Craig, 69, of Vermilion, died Sunday, April 12, 2020 at his home after a brief illness. He was born March 2, 1951 in Lorain and had been a Vermilion resident for the past 37 years moving from Lorain. Donnie was a veteran of the US Army serving during Vietnam. Donnie worked in maintenance for National Gypsum, Lorain retiring after 30 years. He was a member of the Eagles and American Legion Post #397. Donnie loved watching sports, spending time with his dogs, and he especially enjoyed spending time with his family. Donnie touched many lives as a friend and neighborhood Dad to many kids growing up. We affectionately call him the man with a Golden Heart and loved him dearly. He is survived by his daughters, Sarah Ganim of Fort Meyers, FL, Leah (Mike) LaCrosse, and Laura (Paul Havice) Craig of Vermilion; grandchildren, Shawn, Mark, and Elizabeth Ganim and Jayden and Andrew LaCrosse; nephew, Aaron Proskerenko; and his niece, Natalie Smith. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Delores (nee Broyles) Craig and his sister and brother in law, Kathy and Mike Proskerenko. Private inurnment will take place at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions to Hospice of the Western Reserve, 17876 St. Clair Ave., Cleveland, OH 44110.
