Donald Lee Fischer, 82, of Vermilion, passed away on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at UH Elyria after a lengthy illness.
Born on February 17, 1942, in Vermilion, Donald was a lifelong resident. He honorably served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era.
Donald dedicated his career to Wakefield Brass Company, where he worked as a supervisor until his retirement. He a proud member of Amvets Post 22, American Legion Post 397, VFW Post 7576, and the Amherst Eagles. He found joy in golfing, fishing, and spending time with his cherished family and friends.
He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Kathy Fischer of Vermilion; his devoted daughter, Elizabeth "Beth" (Andrew Russell) Russell of Vermilion; sister, Lynn Tucker; brothers-in-law, Donald Whitt and Richard Whitt; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Ruth (née Bringman) Fischer, and his brother-in-law, Kenneth Tucker.
A celebration of Donald’s life will be held on February 9, 2025 from 12 p.m. until 3 p.m. at VFW Post 397, 7576 Poorman Road, Vermilion, OH 44089.
Private inurnment will take place at Maple Grove Cemetery, Vermilion.
