Donald John Kishman, 87 of Huron, died Friday, April 11, 2008 in Community Health Partners in Lorain following a short illness. He was born January 15, 1921 in Vermilion Township and has been a lifelong resident. Donald was a graduate of Vermilion High School class of 1938. In 1943 he entered the Army Air Corp., and was taken as a prisoner of war in Oberfering, Germany in December 1944. Donald was subsequently awarded the WWII Victory Medal, American Theater Ribbon, EAME Ribbon with 1 Silver Battle Star, 1 Bronze Battle Star and the Purple Heart. Following the service, he returned home and was a self-employed farmer on the Kishman Farm in Vermilion Township until he retired. He was a member of the Farm Bureau, the Erie County Soil Conservation Board, served as Vermilion Township Trustee for several years, member of the DAV, American Legion and VFW and St. Mary Catholic Church, all in Vermilion. Survivors include his wife, Agnes (nee Schmitz) Kishman, whom he married on October 4, 1947; son, David (Candy) Kishman of Vermilion; daughters, Elizabeth Kishman and Margaret Kishman, both of Sandusky; brother, George Kishman of Vermilion; sisters-in-law, Alice Kishman and Faith Kishman, both of Vermilion; granddaughters, Heather Kishman of California, Catherine (Mark) Reimer of California and Jessica Kishman of Milan; 2 great-granddaughters; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded-in-death by his parents, Werner and Myrtle (nee Brothers) Kishman, a son, Donald Vern Kishman in 1991, and brothers, Werner "June" and William Kishman. There will be no funeral home visitation. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, April 14, 2008 at 10:30 am at St. Mary Catholic Church, 731 Exchange Street, Vermilion.
