Donald L. Scholl, 77, of Birmingham, passed away Sunday, January 14, 2018 at Stein Hospice, Sandusky after a lengthy illness. Donald was born March 9, 1940 at home in Grafton, OH and had lived in the Vermilion-Firelands area for most of his life. He graduated from Firelands High School in 1959. Donald worked for the Lorain Ford Motor Co. in shipping and receiving, he was a camp manger for 6 years at Girl Scout Camp Timberlane; and retired as an insurance agent and manager for John Hancock. He attended Trinity Evangelical Free Church in Amherst. He enjoyed golf, gardening, hunting, fishing, bowling, and spending time with his family. Him and his wife, Judy, were snow birds spending the winters in Orange City, FL for 15 years. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Judy (nee Woods) Scholl; children, Michele (Dave) Armstrong of AZ, Michael (Jeanne) Scholl of Vermilion, and Monte (Lisa) Scholl of Birmingham; grandchildren, Zachary (Aubrey) Scholl, Matthew Scholl, and Lainey Scholl; step grandchildren, Amanda and David Armstrong; great grandchildren, Brantley and Cora Jean; step great grandchildren, David and Jonathon; siblings, June Yates, Barbara Humm, Ruth (Gene) Sprague, Harold Scholl, and Frank Scholl; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Mildred (nee Schroeder) Scholl. The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 18, 2018 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio. A Celebration of Life Service will take place at a later date.
