Donn Ackerman

Donn Reid Ackerman, 73, passed away peacefully at his home in Vermilion on Tuesday, February 17, 2021. He was born March 31, 1947 in Lorain and had been a Vermilion resident for more than 33 years. Donn graduated from Firelands High School in 1965. He worked for Ford Motor Co., Lorain, and retired as a Tow Motor Mechanic. Donn was an accomplished musician, with piano and guitar being his forte .Most of all he enjoyed the presence of his family and canine companions. He is survived by his son, Donn (Liz) Ackerman of Vermilion; daughters, Leah (Scott) Sadowski of Amherst, Allie Ackerman of Avon Lake, and Gwen Ackerman of Vermilion; grandchildren, Diana Isabelle and Donn Celso Ackerman, Avery Evelyn and Asher Michael Sadowski, Gabriel Reid and Matilda Leigh Dumont, Jack William Shepard and Duke Wolf Knapp; and his brother, William Ackerman. He is also survived by his long time canine buddy, Zipper, as well as many relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; John Jacob and Isabella (nee Rocher) Ackerman; brother, Jack Ackerman; and his canine family Gus, Ida, Lulu, Sam, Zoe, Rusty, and Duncan.
