Dorothea Jayne Schuster

Dorothea Jayne Schuster (nee Manning), age 85, of Vermilion, died Tuesday, September 7, 2004 at New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph following a short illness. She was born on December 12, 1918 in Cadillac, Michigan and has lived in Vermilion since the early 1940's. During WWII, she worked as a welder for the American Ship Building Company, Lorain and US Steel. She had also worked as a meat wrapper for the Kroger Company and helped on the family farm. She was a member of the Vermilion Evangelical and Reformed Church, enjoyed flowers, pets, especially cats, and antiques. Survivors include her husband of 41 years, Raymond Schuster; 3 grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild. Preceding her in death were her son, Dennis McCrea; a step-grandson, Greg Garnek; parents, Frank and Kathryn (nee VanBuskirk) Manning; step-father, George Alt; sisters, Virginia Konnerth and Lorraine Kolyno; brothers, Jack Manning, Douglas Manning and Francis Manning. Friends may call Thursday , September 9, 2004 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio. Services will be held at the Riddle Funeral Home at 11:00 am on Friday, September 10, 2004. The Reverend Doug Yost, pastor of the Vermilion E & R Church will officiate. Interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery.
