Dorothy Hackenberg

Dorothy (nee Fischer) Hackenberg, 83, of Vermilion, died Saturday, March 4, 2023 at her home  after a brief illness.

She was born April 19, 1939  in Cleveland, OH and had been a Vermilion resident for the past 58 years moving from Sheffield Lake.

She graduated from Grafton High School  and worked  for Lorain Printing for 38 years.

She was a member of the Madeleine Chapter #204 O.E.S for over 60 years. She enjoyed bowling, gambling, NASCAR, taking scenic car rides, flowers, birds and working in the yard. She especially loved spending time with her family.

She is survived by her daughter, Cynthia Hackenberg of Vermilion: son, Thomas (Marsha) Hackenberg of Vermilion, daughter in law, Victoria  Hackenberg of Vermilion; grandsons, Scott Hackenberg, Jr. and Kenneth Hackenberg; granddaughter, Jennifer Hackenberg; great-grandsons, Jakob and Daniel; siblings, Joan Hager,  Lois Thomas, Carl Fischer,  Pat (Jeff) Guillemette, and Greg (Carole) Cost.

She was preceded in death by her father, Ivan (Leona) Fischer and Edna (Jay)  Cost (nee Thompson) and her  son, Scott V Hackenberg in 2021.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 9, 2023, 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio.  Funeral services will be Friday, March 10, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Riddle Funeral Home. Pastor Jim Cooper will officiate.  Interment will be held  at Brownhelm Cemetery at a later date.
