Douglas Lapp

Douglas A. Lapp, 69, of Vermilion, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 16, 2026, at home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born August 15, 1956, in Batavia, NY and had been a life long Vermilion area resident.

Doug worked for Ford Motor Company, Avon Lake for 32 years, where he held several positions, including chrome installer, spray painter, and inspector, retiring in 2007.

He was a member of Vermilion Fish and Game, a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association, a longtime member of BoatUS, a Boy Scout leader of Troop #434 in Henrietta Township for three years, assistant Scoutmaster of Troop #447 in Vermilion for 20 years, and a 27-year member of the American Motorcyclist Association. Doug enjoyed hunting, fishing, and riding his motorcycle, and he had a fascination with anything that had wheels and a motor, including model trains. He also enjoyed boating, camping, and woodworking.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Tammy; his sons, Doug (Jessica) Lapp, Jr. and Brad (Jessica) Lapp; his grandchildren, Madelyn and Barrett; and his brothers, Mark (Wendy) Lapp and Michael (Sandy) Lapp; sister-in-law, Carol Lapp; several nieces and nephews; and estranged by brother, Gregory (Doreen) Lapp.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Mildred (née Snyder) Lapp, and his brother, Carlton Lapp.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, Feb. 19, 2026 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion. Funeral services will be held Friday, Feb. 20, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, Vermilion.

The family suggests memorial contributions to the Vermilion Fish and Game Vermilion High School Scholarship Fund, 13617 Thompson Rd., Vermilion, OH 44089.
