Douglas Craig Owens, Sr., 66, of Lorain, died Thursday, February 20, 2014 at his home after a lengthy illness. Doug was born July 13, 1947 in Cleveland and had been a Lorain resident for the past two years moving from Cleveland. He had owned several small businesses including a gas station. Doug was a history buff who enjoyed watching old movies and following the stock market. He also had a love for airplanes and enjoyed flying after he got his pilots license. He is survived by his son, Douglas Owens Jr. of Lorain; daughters, Denise (John) Friend of Lorain, Kim (Kyle) Wymer of Avon Lake, and Tammy (Mike Porchowsky) Owens of Stow; 9 grandchildren; and sister, Susan Owens of Norfolk, VA. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey Jasper and Betty June (nee Krotzer) Owens. ã The family will receive friends at a memorial visitation on Friday, Feb. 28, 2014 from 4-8 pm at the Dombrowski-Riddle Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 1939 Oberlin Ave., Lorain, OH 44052.
