Douglas Hugh Summers, 71, of Vermilion, died Tuesday, August 17, 2021 at St. John West Shore Hospital after a brief illness. He was born December 24, 1949 in Albright, WV and had been a Vermilion resident for the past 21 years moving from Norwalk. Doug worked as a lift mechanic for Ford Motor Co., Lorain and Avon for 38 years, retiring in 2007. He was a member of the American Legion Post #397, Amvets Post #22, Vermilion Veterans Council, and Ely Masonic Lodge #424. Doug enjoyed fishing, hunting, and farming. He is survived by his wife, Teresa (nee Dise) Summers of Vermilion; sons, Jassen Summers of Columbus and Brian (Jessica) Summers of Vermilion; daughters, Ashley (Jeremy) Reed of Clyde, Emily Rosen of Sandusky, and Elishia (Michael) Styczynski of Fort Leonard Wood, MO; grandchildren: Christapher, Issayiah, Kayla, Aubriana, and Hunter; sister, Margie A. Morrow of Wakeman; and his sister-in-law, Margaret Summers of Vermilion. He was preceded in death by his parents, Everett and Dorothy (nee Cramer) Summers, first wife, Sheila (nee Aubel); second wife, Dorsey (nee Gibson); brother, Larry L. Summers; sister, Tammy Beetler; and his nephew, Chad Morrow. The family will receive friends on Saturday, Aug. 21, 2021 from 11:00 a.m. until the time of a Veterans Service and Masonic Service at 2:00 p.m. at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio.
