Douglas H. Terry

Douglas Heron Terry, 72, of Vermilion, passed away April 30, 2026 at Lake Pointe Heath Center, Lorain following a lengthy illness.

He was born July 13, 1953, in Jackson, Tennessee, and spent most of his life in the Vermilion area.

Doug graduated from Vermilion High school in 1972 and worked as a carpet layer throughout his career. He also was employed by Fee Builders, Home Depot, and served as an attendant at Riddle Funeral Home.

He was a member of Lakeview Baptist Church in Vermilion. Doug enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially fishing, and took pride in working with his hands.

He is survived by his sons, Douglas Terry, Jr. of Fort Myers, Florida, and Duane Terry of St. Peters, Florida; his mother, Polly (nee Emison) Terry; his sisters, Dianne Terry of Vermilion and Paula (Rick) Fitzpatrick of Lorain; his grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Clifford A. Terry, and his son, Matthew Terry.

The family will receive friends on Monday, May 4, 2026 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral services at11:00 a.m. at Lakeview Baptist Church, 591 Ferndale Ave., Vermilion, OH 44089. The Rev. Cliff Morris will officiate. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Vermilion.
