Douglas E. Zientarski, 60, of Wakeman, died Friday, September 28, 2018 at University Hospitals of Cleveland after a lengthy battle with cancer. He was born September 16, 1958 in Lorain where he spent his childhood. He had been a Vermilion resident most of his adult life until moving to Wakeman five years ago. Douglas worked as a Pipefitter for Local 42 for 31 years retiring in 2017. He had been a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Lorain. He enjoyed coaching his children's sports teams, fishing, spending time with his grandchildren, attending his grandchildren's sporting events, and he especially enjoyed cooking and entertaining for friends and family. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Loree (nee Schaefer) Zientarski of Wakeman; parents, Stephen and Carol (nee Shupe) Zientarski; daughter, Shelly (Joe) Potts of Vermilion, OH; son, Brett (Caitlin) Zientarski of Vermilion; grandchildren, Morgan and Makayla Potts, and Ella Zientarski; brothers, Glenn Zientarski of Cleveland, Scott Zientarski of Jupiter, FL, and David Zientarski of Lorain; and his sister, Missy Green of Vermilion. He was preceded in death by his brother, Thomas A Zientarski. The family will receive friends on Monday, October 1, 2018 from 4-8 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio. A Funeral Mass will be Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, 309 W. 7th St, Lorain, OH 44052. Fr. Daniel Divis will officiate. The family suggests memorial contributions to The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, LLS.org/donate. Online condolences may be made at www.riddlefuneralhome.com.
