Earl "Red" Hardway Jr,93, of Vermilion , passed away peacefully Friday, September 30, 2022 at Mercy Hospital.
For his 93 years, he gave everything he could to his highschool sweetheart "Tootie" (Ora). They moved to Ohio, where he retired after 30 years from Ford Motor Co.
He helped in digging and lay the foundation for the 1st Assembly of God Church in Vermilion. He was a master woodworker, a fisherman, hunter, and gardener. His love of life led him to serve in the music worship team and nursing home ministry. His family had many evenings enjoying his favorite team, the Cleveland Indians. His service to his family, community, and the Lord was preceded by his service to his country in the Korean War. His smile will be missed by many.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Ora (nee Hurst); daughters, Brenda Hardway and Tina Brixie; grandchildren, Sean (Leah) Newbill, Lindsay Newbill, and Angela Brixie; great-grandchildren, Shawn Schenz, Bodhi Newbill, Natalie Newbill, and Brendan Newbill; sister, Eloise Frame and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Ocie (nee Hacker) Hardway; daughters, Linda and Tara Hardway; siblings, Eugene Hardway, Daryl Hardway, Charles Hardway, and Wanda Rogers.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 4, 2022 from 11 until the time of service at 12 noon at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio.The Pastor Russ Nelson will officiate. Interment will follow at Rugby Cemetery, Vermilion where the AMVETS Post 32 Honor Guard will conduct military honors.
