Edna A. Beam (nee Hamill), 93, formerly of Lorain, died Wednesday, March 15, 2006 in Admiral's Pointe Nursing Home, Huron, after a short illness. She was born March 9, 1913 in Lorain, moved to The Inn at Chappel Creek, Vermilion in 2000 and had been a Lorain resident most of her life. She graduated from Lorain High School in 1930. She was a member of the Emmanuel United Methodist Church in Lorain, a 50 year member of the Queen City #66 Order of Eastern Stars, Lake Erie Shrine # 47 of the White Shiners of Jerusalem where she was past worthy High Priestess and Past District Deputy. She was a charter member of the Lorain Community Health Partners Auxiliary, former member of the Lakeland Women�s Club, and Auxiliary of Shipmaster's Association. Survivors include 2 nieces, Sally Fox of Vermilion, and Sue Backus of Vermilion, and 2 nephews, Jim Simpson of Pamela Beach, FL, and Tom Simpson of Columbus, OH, many great nieces and nephews and great - great nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her husband of 48 years, Captain Don S. Beam in 1981, parents, Thomas J. and Sarah J. Ham ill (nee Aiken), sisters, Vida Simpson, Edith Heisner and Grace Greening, and a nephew Dick Simpson. Friends may call Friday March 17, 2006 from 12:00 noon until the time of an Eastern Star Service followed by funeral services at 1:00 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South St., Vermilion. The Reverend Louis Bertoni and Reverend Wendell Brooker will be co-officiating. Interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery, Lorain.
