Edna Mae Klaar (nee Maurer), 88, formerly of Vermilion, died Friday, May 2, 2008 at Spring Meade Health Center, Tipp City, Ohio. She was born February 26, 1920 in Elyria. She lived in Lorain and moved to Vermilion in 1934. She had lived in Tipp City the past year. She graduated from Vermilion High School in 1937. She attended Ohio Business College for 2 years and graduated from St. Joseph School of Practical Nursing. She worked as an LPN for St. Joseph Hospital for 5 years then Lorain Community Hospital for 20 years. She had also worked as a secretary for Wakefield Brass, Vermilion. She was active in Harbourtown Community Church, Vermilion, where she played the organ. She also played piano and violin, and enjoyed gardening. Survivors include her daughter, Martha Ann Hicks of Pemaquid, Maine; son, Robert George Klaar of Tipp City; grandson, Timothy Michael Hicks, Scarborough, Maine and 2 great grandchildren, Amanda and Joseph Hicks. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Clifford Klaar, 2002, a brother, Raymond Maurer; and her parents, Clarence George and Amelia (nee Hoffman) Maurer. Friends may call Tuesday, May 6, 2008 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio. Services will be held at the Riddle Funeral Home, Wednesday at 11 a.m.. The Reverend Jim Cooper, pastor, will officiate. Interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Vermilion. The family suggests memorial contributions to Harbourtown Community Church, 873 State Street, Vermilion.
