Edward Horner

Edward R. Horner Jr., 77, of Vermilion, died Thursday, April 21, 2022 , at Mercy New Life Hospice after a lengthy illness. He was born December 31, 1944 in Lorain and had been a Vermilion resident for over 60 years moving from Amherst. Edward was a veteran of the US Army serving during Vietnam. Edward worked in maintenance for Ford Motor Co., Lorain for over 31 years. He was a member of Harbourtown Community Church. Edward enjoyed camping, reading the Bible, bowling, and being the "candy man". He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Judith A Horner of Vermilion; sons, James Richard (Marci) Horner of Boise, ID, James Robert "Jim" (Kristi Jo) Horner of Troy, and Timothy Allen (Angie) Horner of Elyria; daughter, Tonya Horner of Vermilion; grandchildren, Christopher (Michelle), Matt (Cassie), Jacob, Emma, Gloria, Cameron, and Kalibur Horner; great-grandchildren, Declan, Ellie Rose, and Lillian; sisters, Kathy (Bob) Schoening of Dubois, PA, Shirley Sue (Jim) Poprock of Las Vegas, NV, Birtha Mae (Jerry) Saylers of Sandusky, and Brenda Kay (Roy) Boyd of Vermilion, OH; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward R. Sr. and Martha E. (nee Green) Horner; sister, Linda McMillan; nieces, Belinda Kay Boyd and Marsha Schoening; granddaughter, Gretchen Horner and grandsons, Jeffrey and Joshua Horner. The family will receive friends on Monday, April 25, 2022 from 12 until the time of the funeral service at 2 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio. Pastor Jim Cooper and Pastor Lee Stall will officiate and the Vermilion Veterans Council will conduct military honors just prior to the service. Private interment will be held at Maple Grove Cemetery, Vermilion.
