Edward Ray Mullins, 91, of Vermilion, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at Mercy New Life Hospice after a lengthy illness.
Born on September 7, 1933, in Robbins, Tennessee, Ray moved to Vermilion 65 years ago, where he made his home and raised his family.
Ray was a proud veteran of the United States Army, serving in the Korean War. He went on to work at Ford Motor Company in Lorain, where he served as an inspector for 30 years before retiring in 1990. He was a longtime member of Lakeview Baptist Church and the UAW Local #425.
Ray enjoyed the outdoors and found great joy in fishing and practicing taxidermy-pastimes that reflected his deep appreciation for nature.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 69 years, Maxine (née Griffith) Mullins; his son, Michael (Jackie) Mullins of Birmingham; grandchildren, Jessica Rowley and Kevin (Paige) Mullins; and great-grandchildren, Brayden, Nathan, and Sophia Rowley, as well as Karley and Kyson Mullins. He is also survived by his brother, Howard (Mary) Mullins of St. Louis, Missouri, and many nieces and nephews.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents, James Reuben and Pearl (née Barger) Mullins; his infant grandson, Michael Mullins; sisters, Inis Mericle, Dorothy Brown, and Alta Hatfield; and brothers, Ralph, Frank and Stanley Mullins.
Family and friends are invited to gather on Saturday, May 31, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 12:30 p.m. at Lakeview Baptist Church, 591 Ferndale Ave., Vermilion, OH 44089. The Reverend Cliff Morris and Pastor Bill Rowe will co-officiate. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Vermilion, where military honors will be presented.
