Edward "Les" Murphy Sr., 81, of Huron, passed away on Saturday, March 22, 2025 at Admiral's Pointe Nursing and Rehabilitation, Huron following a lengthy illness.
Born on April 23, 1943, in Brookpark, OH, Les had been a resident of Huron for the past 22 years, having moved from North Olmsted.
Les was the owner and operator of M & W Heating and Cooling, where he dedicated over 25 years to HVAC repair. He was a former member of Lighthouse Church in Huron and spent the last 20 years volunteering at the Helping Hands Food Pantry. An avid fisherman and coin collector, Les loved staying connected with his neighbors at Queen of Lakes Trailer Park, always putting others first and readily helping friends and neighbors in need.
Les is survived by his daughter, Kelly (Bernard "BJ") Lavelle of Huron, OH; sons Eddie (Susie) Murphy Jr. of Clyde and Bill Younis of Cleveland; grandchildren Victoria (Kyle)McDonald, Melanie (Matt) Miller, and Eric Murphy; great grandchildren Grace and Caleb; brothers Danny (Linda) Murphy, Ronnie (Lynn) Murphy, and Bill (Tammy) Murphy; and sisters Lillian Uffman, and Maurine (Brian) Kelly.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Janet Irene Murphy, in 2013; son James Murphy; granddaughter Amanda M. Murphy; parents, Edward and Louise (nee Felicijan) Murphy; brother Mike Murphy; and his sisters Nancy Murphy and Mary Clingerman.
A celebration of life service will be held Friday, March 28, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at First Congregational UCC., 5 E Main St., Berlin Heights, OH 44814. Inurnment will be at Riverside Cemetery and a luncheon will follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to a local food pantry of your choice.
