Edward Avery Peters, Jr., 85, of Vermilion, Ohio, died Tuesday, January 27, 2026, at his home after a lengthy illness.
He was born July 19, 1940, in Chagrin Falls, Ohio, and had been a resident of Vermilion and Fremont, Indiana, for the past 20 years.
Edward was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force, serving during the Vietnam War. He was a graduate of the University of Montana, where he was an active member of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity.
He began his professional career in management with Allstate Insurance and later continued his work with Kemper Insurance, Cigna, and City Bank.
Edward was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Fremont, Indiana, and also attended The Tabernacle in Linwood. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting, and was an avid sports enthusiast. Above all, he cherished time spent with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Ann (nee Woods) Peters, of Fremont, Indiana, and Vermilion; his children, Edward Avery (Sara) Peters III of St. Johns, Michigan, Terry (Lloyd) Goebbert of Hampshire, Illinois, Randy (Diane) Peters of Bryan, Ohio, and James (Amber) Peters of Mason, Michigan; his grandchildren, Edward IV, Zach, Jessica, Jacob, James, Travis, Drew, Taylor, Avery, and Troy; and his brother, Robin (Shannon) Peters of Missoula, Montana.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Avery Sr. and Virginia L. (nee Reid) Peters.
A memorial service with Veterans Honors will be held on Thursday, July 2, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at the Tabernacle at Linwood, Linwood Ave & Tabernacle Street, Vermilion, OH 44089. Pastor Paul Thwart will officiate.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Linwood Christian Life, 444 Ash Street, Vermilion, Ohio 44089.
