Eileen S Knavel

Eileen S. Knavel of Brunswick, Georgia, formerly of Vermilion, Ohio passed away Tuesday, October 10,

2023, at the age of 79 following a short illness.

Eileen was born in Shaker Heights, Ohio to Lawrence H. and Dora B. (nee Rosen) Williams, the third of

three daughters. She graduated from Shaker Heights High School in 1962. After high school, Eileen

followed the love of her life, Randy Blake, to Bowling Green State University where they both graduated.

Their love and loyalty for the BGSU Falcons continued for the remainder of their lives. Eileen dedicated

27 years to the Firelands School District as a special education teacher. She lived in Vermilion until

moving to Georgia in the spring of 2023.

Eileen enjoyed walking in Valley View with her beloved friend Phyllis Yousko and swimming at the local

pool. She was involved in a sewing group and retired teachers lunch bunch. She had a lifelong love of

horses and could be seen frequenting local barns caring for her Larriken. Her children, Kelley and

Randolph, were the apples of her eye. Eilleen was a devoted grandmother to her seven grandchildren

and several grand-dogs.

She will be greatly missed by her daughter Kelley S. Royer (Duke), of Jekyll Island, Georgia and Randolph

L. (Kirsten, nee Steris) of Avon, Ohio. She also leaves to cherish her memory her grandchildren, Alexa

Daniell (Will), Brayden Royer (Bailey), Karagan Royer, and Aniston Royer, all of Georgia, Magnolia Knavel

of Willoughby Hills, Ohio, Cheyenne Knavel of Baltimore, Maryland, and Alithea Varouh of Avon, Ohio;

sister, Nancy Lerner of Shaker Heights, Ohio, brother and sister-in law, Dusty and Mary Knavel of

Johnstown, Pennsylvania, and several nieces and nephews.

Eileen was preceded in death by her husband, Randy Blake in 2013, her parents, and her sister Wendy Cohen.

Per Eileen’s wishes, services were private.

A memorial celebration is planned in Vermilion in spring 2024.
