Elaine Estelle Creel (nee Kinsman), 92, of Vermilion, died April 14, 2012 at New Life Hospice following an unexpected illness during her declining health. She was born in Lakewood, Ohio on September 7, 1919 to Horace and Ada Kinsman. She and her husband, Lin, moved to Vermilion in 1948 where they resided for 63 years. Elaine worked during the 1970s at the family business, Firelands Floors. She enjoyed her family and grandchildren, bridge, sailing, golf, dancing, and travel. She was active in Girl Scouts as her four daughters were growing up. She was a 50 year member of both the United Church of Christ Congregational and Eastern Star Madeline Chapter. Elaine is survived by her four daughters; Judith Gutman, Patricia Creel, and Diane Creel of Vermilion, and Lynne Svec of Eastbrook, Maine; her grandchildren, David (Rebecca) Svec, Dan (Tatiana) Svec, Kimberly (Dennis Sawatzki) Svec, Paula (Mark) Orchowski, Carl Gutman, Todd Gutman, Daren (Shannon McGann) Gutman; nine great grandchildren and three nieces. She was preceded in death by her husband, E. Linwood Creel, Jr. in 2008; her parents and brother, Robert Kinsman, son-in-law, Robert Svec and grandson, John Svec. A memorial service will be held Sunday, April 22, 2012 at 2 p.m. at the United Church of Christ Congregational, 990 State St., Vermilion. The Reverend Bob Richardson will officiate.
