Eleanor Josephine Kelm (nee Kotey), 80, of Vermilion, died Monday, December 1, 2008 at New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph after a 2 month illness. She was born April 13, 1928 in Cleveland, Ohio, and has been a Vermilion resident for the past 51 years moving from Cleveland. She enjoyed playing bingo, sewing, and caring for her cats and dogs. She is survived by her daughter, Mary Lafferty of Vermilion, 2 sons, David Kelm and Arthur Kelm of Vermilion; 7 grandchildren, AJ., Matt Kristy, Jessica and Ryan Kelm and Anthony and Wyatt Lafferty; 2 great grandchildren, Aiden and Mariah; and a brother, Joseph Kotey of Finlay, OH. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur "Art" Kelm on October 5, 2004; and her parents, Joseph and Lorena (nee Shutty) Kotey. The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 4, 2008 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio. Prayers will be said at the funeral home on Friday, December 5, 2008 at 10:30 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am at St. Mary Catholic Church, 731 Exchange Street, Vermilion. Father Jim Holmer, pastor, will officiate. Interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Vermilion.
