Elio "Joe" Joseph Cavalet of Akron, died Sunday, April 16, 2006 in MetroHealth Medical Center after a lengthy illness. He was born in Dean, Pennsylvania. He has been a Akron resident most of his life, spending time in Vermilion. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during WWII. He worked in his family's masonary business and retired as a service repair manager for Montgomery Ward in 1999. He had also worked as a service repairman for many companies. He was a member of Annunciation Catholic Church in Akron and also attended St. Mary Catholic Church in Vermilion. He was a former member of VFW Firestone Post 3383, AMVETS Post #222; American Legion Post # 19 all of Akron. He enjoyed golf, cards, bingo and casinos. Survivors include his companion, Patricia Bennett of Vermilion; daughter, Marie Odell of Hudson, and 3 grandchildren. Preceding him in death were his wife, Irene Cavalet 1993, parents, Ernesto and Marie (nee DeMarco) Cavalet and 8 brothers and sisters. Friends may call Tuesday, April 18, 2006 from 7-9 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio. A Christian Wake service will be held at 8:30 p.m. Friends may also call Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, 731 Exchange St. Vermilion, with Reverend Jim Holmer officiating. Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, 100 E. Waterloo Road, Akron Ohio at 2 p.m..
