Elizabeth L. Berk

Elizabeth L. Berk (nee Lautner), 91, of Vermilion, died Monday, October 7, 2013 with family after a lengthy illness. Elizabeth was born June 19, 1922 in Lorain. She had been a Vermilion resident most of her life. Elizabeth worked for J.A. Berk & Associates as an office manager and Steve Martins Grocery Store as a cashier. She was a member of United Church of Christ Congregational, Vermilion where she was involved in Marmaru. She was a member of the Madeline Chapter of Eastern Stars and volunteered at the Vermilion Intermediate School for the reading program. She enjoyed fishing, bingo, gardening, hooking rugs, family trips, her children and grandchildren. She loved Big Band Music and dancing at the Crystal Beach Ball Room.. She is survived by her daughters, Mary Margaret (Ronald) Mortus of Strongsville, Elizabeth Mae (David) Bradley of Medina, Christine Kathryn (Scott) Ruetenik of Vermilion; sons, Jay Arthur (Virginia) Berk of Vermilion, James William Berk of Vermilion, grandchildren, Julia Sander, Lori McElwain, William G. Roser III, Christopher Berk Roser, Jacqueline Ruetenik, Kathryn Ruetenik, Lauren Berk; great grand children, Lena, Grant, Jay Sander and Sarah, Molly and Jamie McElwain. She was preceded in death by her husband, J. Arthur Berk, 1994; her parents, Joseph and Mary (nee Bodnar) Lautner; sisters, Mary Nagy, Margaret Brezina and brothers, John and Joseph Lautner. The family will receive friends on Friday, October 11, 2013 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, OH.
