Elizabeth Rose Eicher

Elizabeth Rose "Betty" Eicher (née Kopocs), 90, of Vermilion, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, following a brief illness.

She was born June 16, 1935, in Oberlin, Ohio, and made her home in Vermilion for over 50 years, having previously lived in Lorain.

Betty dedicated 22 years of service as a bus driver for the Firelands School District, where she was known for her reliability and care for the students she transported.

She found great joy in the outdoors, especially camping, fishing, and taking annual trips to Canada. Above all, Elizabeth cherished time spent with her family and hosting gatherings that brought everyone together.

She is survived by her children: Randy (Debbie) Sanders of Oberlin, Kim Ring of McKeesport, Pennsylvania, David Sanders of Vermilion, Donald Eicher Jr. of Lorain, Karen (Dale) Green of Walterboro, South Carolina, and Dorothy Eicher of Vermilion. She also leaves behind many beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom she adored, as well as her brother, Louis Kopocs Jr. of Carrollton, Ohio.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Eicher Sr.; her son, Douglas Sanders; and her parents, Louis Kopocs Sr. and Rose (née Balogh) Kopocs.

Private services will be held.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Friendship Animal Protective League of Lorain County, Inc., 8303 Murray Ridge Road, Elyria, Ohio 44035.
