Elizabeth "Betty" Louise Franklin (née Summers), 94, of Vermilion, passed away on Thursday, August 29, 2024, following a lengthy illness.
Born on April 24, 1930, in Ceylon, OH, Betty lived in Vermilion most of her life.
Betty dedicated many years of her life to her craft as a candy maker at Fanny Farmers and was known for her talent in creating and decorating beautiful wedding cakes.
A woman of faith, Betty was a member of Henrietta United Methodist Church, a former member of Florence United Methodist Church, and most recently attended The Chapel in Norwalk. Her hobbies included baking, cake decorating, flower arranging, gardening, canning, home decorating, and sewing.
Betty is survived by her daughter, Gail Franklin of Norwalk; her son, Terry D. Franklin (Jennmarie) of San Anselmo, CA; her grandchildren, Donald Gregg, Nick Meyers, Miles Franklin, Davis Franklin, Arden Franklin, Alexander Vega, Brianna Vega, and Liam McKay; her great-grandchildren, Emery Meyers and Xavier Gregg; her brother, John Summers; and her sister, Carolyn Clouser.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Douglas Arthur Franklin; her parents, Vernon and Doris (née Daniels) Summers; and her siblings, Virginia, Ralph, Charles, Mary, Fran, Albert, Marilyn, Jim, and Florence.
A graveside service will be held at Maple Grove Cemetery on Thursday, September 5, 2024 at 11:30 am. Pastor Charles Conrad from The Chapel, Norwalk will officiate. A luncheon will follow after the graveside service.
