Elizabeth Claire Gleason

Elizabeth Claire Gleason (nee McGuire), 89, of Vermilion , died peacefully, surrounded by her family, Sunday, August 30, 2009 at Inn at Chappel Creek after a short illness. She was born November 11, 1919 in Elyria. She had been a Vermilion resident for the past 53 years moving from Elyria. She was a graduate of Oberlin Business College and worked for Nordson in Amherst as a legal secretary for 13 years retiring in 1979. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church where she was a member of the Altar Rosary Society. She enjoyed traveling, sewing, walking, gardening, and spending time with her family. She is survived by a daughter, Carol (Gary) Mullins of Huron; son, Thomas J. (Pam) Gleason of Vermilion, 8 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward "Jim" Gleason in 1990; a daughter, Molly Rayer in 2003; sister, Mary Jane Blakeslee and brothers, John and Thomas McGuire and her parents, Matthew and Mary (nee Boylan) McGuire. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, September 2, 2009, at 12:30 pm at St. Mary Catholic Church, 731 Exchange Street, Vermilion,. Reverend Jim Homer, pastor, will officiate. Private interment will be in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, Elyria.
