Elizabeth Lee Trinter (nee Shimansky), 90, of Vermilion, died Wednesday, January 2, 2008 at her home after a short illness. She was born March 27, 1917 in Lakewood, had spent her summers in Vermilion and moved permanently 75 years ago. She graduated from Vermilion High School, then attended Cleveland College and Wilery Business College. She worked as a librarian for Ritter Public Library for 15 years. She was a historian and authored three books entitled, "The Way it Was". She was a member of the United Church Congregational, Vermilion, and wrote the church history. She also was a free lance writer for several Ohio periodicals. She was a member of Erie County Historical Society, Friends of Harbourtown and the Archival Society of Vermilion. She enjoyed gardening, travel and her grandchildren. Survivors include sons, John T. Trinter and Timothy A. Trinter of Vermilion, and son, Dan D. Trinter of Wellington; 7 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren; and her half sister, Marcia Applegate, Ashville, NC.. Preceding her in death were her parents, Karl and Harriet (nee Nusly) Shimansky; her husband John Adam Trinter, 1983; a son, Michael K. Trinter, an infant son and her brother, Kim Shimansky. Friends may call Friday, Jan. 4, 2008 from 4-7 p.m. at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio. Services will be held at the Riddle Funeral Home, Saturday, Jan 5, 2008 at 1:30 p.m. The Reverends Wendell Brooker and Louis Bertoni will co-officiate.
