Elmer William Schultz, 91, of Vermilion, died Monday, November 24, 2014 at New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph after a lengthy illness. Elmer was born January 9, 1923 in Detroit , MI, and had been a Vermilion resident for the past 54 years, moving from Ipswich, Massachusetts. He was a veteran of the US Navy serving during WWII where he is received a purple heart. Elmer worked as a paint man and in body repair for Ford Motor Co., Lorain, retiring after 32 years. He was a member of the UAW Local #425. He enjoyed making pictures with yarn, and traveling to Boca Rotan, FL. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Victoria A. (nee Iwick) Schultz of Vermilion, sons, Bob and Rich Schultz both of Lorain, 3 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, and a sister, Joyce. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Edward Schultz, sister, Ethel Graham, and daughter in law, Terry Schultz. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2014 from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, OH. Interment will follow at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst where the Lorain VFW Post #451 and American Legion Post #30 Honor Guard will conduct graveside military honors.
