Emil A. Jeancola, 82 of Vermilion, died Thursday, December 30, 2004 in Community Health Partners West after a lengthy illness. He was born August 17, 1922 in Lorain, OH and has been a Vermilion resident for the past 6 years. He was a veteran of the US Army serving in Germany and France during WWII. He received various metals including two Purple Hearts. Mr. Jeancola had worked for Fruehauf in Sheffield before working at US Steel, Lorain from where he retired after 16 years. He was a member of the Catholic Church of St. Peter, Lorain and AMVETS Post #22, Vermilion. He enjoyed classical music, reading classical and historical books, and had been an accomplished violinist in his earlier years. Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Loretta (nee Gabriel) Jeancola; a daughter, Julia Trudeau of Groton , MA; 2 grandchildren, and several cousins. Preceding him in death were his parents, Emil and Julia (nee Kowal) Jeancola. Friends may call Sunday Jan. 2, 2005 from 4-7 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio where the Vermilion Veteran's Council will be conducting Military Honors at 4:00. Prayers will be said at the funeral home on Monday Jan. 3, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. followed by a 11:30 Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary Catholic Church, 731 Exchange St. Vermilion. The Reverend Jim Holmer, pastor, will officiate. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
