Emma K. Ziegman

Emma K. Ziegman (nee Drechsler), 96, of Vermilion, died Sunday, February 29, 2004 in Ohio Extended Care Center, Lorain after a brief illness. She was born November 13, 1907 in Lorain, Ohio and has lived most of her life in the Vermilion and Brownhelm areas. Mrs. Ziegman graduated from Brownhelm High School and Kent State University. She was an Elementary and Middle School Teacher in both Elyria and Amherst Schools for 35 years. She was a member of the Vermilion Evangelical & Reformed Church, where she sang in the choir. She also rang bells with a Bell Choir in Lorain, sang with the Sweet Adeline�s, and played violin with the Lorain County Orchestra. She toured and traveled extensively, enjoyed music, and entertained at various nursing homes by leading singing. She had also volunteered at Community Health Partners Hospital for over 35 years. Survivors include one sister, Ellen Berger of Amherst, brother, Albert Drechsler of Santa Barbara, CA; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her husband Aloysius Ziegman, parents, Michael and Kathryn (nee Bauer) Drechsler, and sister, Elsie Zelinski in 1988. A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, March 3, 2004 at 4:30 p.m. at the Vermilion E&R Church Ohio at Grand St. Vermilion, with the Pastor Doug Yost officiating. Private burial will take place in Brownhelm Cemetery, Vermilion. Contributions may be made to the Vermilion Evangelical & Reformed Church Ohio at Grand Street, Vermilion, OH 44089. Riddle Funeral Home 5345 South Street, Vermilion is in charge of arrangements.
