Ernest Hobson

Ernest Hobson Jr., 60, of Vermilion, died Wednesday, March 9, 2011 at Lake Pointe Health Center, Lorain after a lengthy illness. Ernest was born August 18, 1950 in Pikeville, KY and had been a Vermilion resident for the past 26 years moving from Sheffield Lake. He was a veteran of the US Army serving during Vietnam with the 101st Airborne Unit. During this time he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, bronze service star, bronze star medal, and Air Medal. Ernest worked for Ford Motor Co., Lorain as an assembler in the Machine Shop and also as an inspector for 23 years retiring in 1994. He was a member of the Local Union #425. Ernest enjoyed riding horses, spending time in the outdoors, long drives in his corvette, and playing chess. He is survived by his; sister, Ann (Mark Novak) Ward of Vermilion; brothers, Hubert Hobson and John D. Hobson of Vermilion; sister-in-law, Jimmi Mey of TN; 8 nieces, 5 nephews, 1 great niece, and 2 great nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Ernest and Georgia (nee Robinson) Hobson; wife Nancy (nee Puckett) Hobson in 2005; son, Ben C. Hobson in 2009; daughter, Nancy Louise; sister, Virginia Poe; and brother, George Hobson. The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 13, 2011 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street Vermilion Ohio where the Vermilion Veterans Council will conduct military honors at 7:00 pm. Funeral services will be Monday, March 14, 2011 at 10:30 am at the funeral home. The Reverend Cliff Morris will officiate. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon.
