Ernestine F. Tansey

Ernestine F. Tansey (nee Sartor), 88 of Vermilion , died Sunday, July 16, 2006 at her home, after a short illness. She was born October 6, 1917 in Sandusky, Ohio and has been a Vermilion resident since 1945. She was the secretary for Erie County Agricultural Extension Agency from 1937-1942. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Vermilion and has been a member of the Grange and the Grange Drill team. She enjoyed gardening, reading, puzzles and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Survivors include her sons: Gerald Tansey of Orlando, FL; Ronald Tansey of Huntington Beach , CA; Frank Tansey, Jr. of Smithville, KY; John Tansey of Elyria; and Patrick Tansey of Vermilion; daughters, Sharon Kernell of Vermilion; Sally Emory of Orlando, FL; Diane Socha of Amherst; and Janet Tansey of Vermilion; 20 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; sisters: Marion Mog of Parma; Evelyn "Evie" Berkey of Sandusky; Thelma Peters of Sandusky; and Elizabeth "Betty" Enderle of Huron, and brother, Fred Sartor of Sandusky, OH. Preceding her in death were her husband, Frank M. Tansey in 1994, parents, Leo and Caroline (nee Rudiger) Sartor, son, Michael Tansey in 2001; granddaughter, Peggy Ann Tansey in 1993; 3 sisters, Erma Fear, Victoria "Mickey" Patterson, and Caroline Sartor; and 7 brothers, Lynford, Earl, Henry, Emil, Jack, George, and Albin Sartor. Friends may call Tuesday, July 18, 2006 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home 5355 South St. Vermilion, OH 44089, a Christian Wake service will be held at 8:30 pm. Prayers will be said at 10:30 am at the funeral home on Wednesday, July 19, 2006 followed by a 11 am. Mass of Christian burial at St. Mary Catholic Church, 731 Exchange Street, Vermilion, with Father Joseph Martello, officiating. Interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery.
