Esther Viola Jackson

Esther Viola Jackson (nee Krapp), 98, of Vermilion, departed this earth Tuesday evening, May 15, 2012 at Mercy Regional Hospital after a sudden illness. Esther was born February 25, 1914 at the family home on Grand Street. She was the ninth child of George B. and Dora A. Krapp (nee Jaeger). Esther graduated from the Vermilion High School in 1932. She was a lifetime resident of Vermilion and Erie County. She was a former member of the Vermilion Boat Club and the Sirenettes (Vermilion Firemen Wives Club). Esther married Chester H. Jackson in 1936. They had two children, Gene Paul and Phyllis Ann. She was very proud of being a homemaker and housewife. She loved baking pies, sour cream kuchens and cookies. She enjoyed her yard and flowers. She maintained a feeding station for the squirrels, rabbits and birds in the park. Esther and Chester loved to go dancing. They traveled the United States including Hawaii and Alaska, several trips to Europe and many, many trips to Las Vegas. She and her husband, Chester, partnered in renovating single family homes into rental properties. Esther took over the Property Management Business in 1989 after his death. She is survived by her devoted daughter, Phyllis Ann Moses, Littleton, Colorado; daughter-in-law, Patsy Jackson of Jacksonville, FL; grandchildren, Julie Ann Moses-Smith, Thornton, CO, Donald R. Moses, Colorado Springs, CO, Phyllis 'Lee' Moses, Denver, CO, Pamela J. Harvey, Jacksonville, FL, Paul Gene (Angie) Jackson, Middleburg, FL and great grandchildren, Travis and Austin Smith, Littleton, CO, Jennifer Christie, Jacksonville, FL, Ryan Harvey, Franktinton, NC, Brittany and Kenny Jackson, Middleburg, FL and great great grandchildren, Nicholas Arnett and Emma Christie of Jacksonville, FL. She was preceded in death by her husband, Chester, Dec. 5, 1988; son, Gene Paul Jackson, April 13, 2010; grandchild, Jeffrey Moses, August 18, 1966; and her ten brothers and sisters, Harvey, Myron and Herbert Krapp, Hilda Blaser, Ruth Tigges, Dorothy Graves, Eleanor Hollosy, Irma Krapp and Dora Virtue. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 23, 2012 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio. Funeral services will be Thursday, May 24, 2012 at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. The Reverend Nick Cacciatore will officiate. Interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Vermilion.
