Ethel Ellen Fortney

Ethel Ellen Fortney (nee Bussey), 75, of Vermilion, died Monday, May 15, 2017 at Anchor Lodge Nursing Home after a lengthy illness. She was born November 11, 1941 in Shinnston, WV and had been a Vermilion resident for the past 56 years moving from West Virginia. Ethel enjoyed planting flowers, gardening, and visiting different parks, especially Mill Hollow. She is survived by her; son, Martin Blake Fortney Jr. of Vermilion; daughter, Vickie Lynn (John) Fortney-Frye of Lambertville, MI; granddaughter, Danielle Nicole Hauff of Toledo; step-sisters, Karen Chander, Sue Strum, Cathy Shagnaw, Debbie Sailor, and Barb Debolt; and her step-brother, Carsel Butcher. She was preceded in death by her husband, Martin Blake Fortney Sr. in 2014; parents, Charles and Bessie (nee Anderson) Bussey; step-mother, Daisy Bussey; infant daughter, Donna Sue Fortney; sister, Kay Parish; and her brother, Allen Bussey. The family will receive friends on Friday, May 19, 2017 from 11:00 a.m. until the time of a funeral service at 12 Noon at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio. Pastor Jim Cooper will officiate. Private interment will follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon.
