Eula J Lucas (nee Zeller), 94, of Vermilion, died Saturday, October 20, 2012 at Mill Manor Nursing Home after a short illness. She was born March 3, 1918 in Berryburg, WV, and had lived in Elberta Beach, Vermilion for over 60 years moving from Elyria. During WWII, Eula worked at the Pfaudler Foundry, Elyria. She then became an LPN at Elyria Memorial Hospital, working in the Children's Ward and later worked as a nurses aide at Riverview, Vermilion, and Amherst Manor. She finished her working career in private elder care. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Vermilion and loved gardening, needlework, sewing, cooking for her family, and pampering her pets. She is survived by her daughters, Shirley (Richard) Witteborg of Defiance, Patricia (Michael) D'Aveta of Lakewood, and Pamela Lucas Hartle of Vermilion; and grandchildren, Caitlin Witteborg (Nathan) Bird and Tristan Arthur (Jennifer) D'Aveta. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur in 2006, parents, Charles and Susanna (nee Kalman) Zeller; sister, Rose (Bernard) Becker; brothers, Charles (Cecelia) Zeller, John (Marge) Zeller, and Elmer (Ethel) Zeller. Private services were held. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Humane Society of Erie County, 1911 Superior Street, Sandusky, Ohio 44870 or the Animal Protective League of Lorain County, Inc., 8303 Murray Ridge Road, Elyria, Ohio 44035. .
