Eva Holbrook (nee Martin), 98, of Vermilion, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, March 12, 2024, at Amherst Manor Retirement Community.
Born on May 11, 1925, in Democrat, KY, Eva dedicated 63 years of her life to Vermilion after relocating from her Kentucky roots.
Eva's legacy lies not only in her familial ties but in her unwavering commitment to homemaking. She found immense fulfillment in nurturing her family, ensuring their well-being with love and care. Her home was her canvas, where she lovingly crafted meals, tended to her garden, and cultivated vibrant flowers and vegetables that she canned. Beyond her domestic sphere, Eva's faith anchored her life, as she found solace and community at First Baptist Church, Vermilion.
However, Eva's kindness was perhaps her most remarkable trait. Even during her time at the nursing home, she radiated appreciation and warmth towards the staff who tended to her needs, leaving an indelible mark on those around her.
Eva is survived by her daughters, Rose Donna (Richard) Dziak of Vermilion and Judy (James) Campbell of Vermilion, and her sons, Paul Randall Holbrook of Amherst and John Wayne (Monica) Holbrook of Wilmington, OH. She leaves behind a legacy carried on by her 8 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Additionally, she is remembered fondly by numerous extended family members.
Preceded in death by her beloved husband of 57 years, Wallace Holbrook in 2004, son William Holbrook in 2002, parents Willie and Maryland (nee Hall) Martin, 9 brothers and 2 sisters.
Private family services will be held, with interment at Maple Grove Cemetery, Vermilion.
The family requests memorial contributions to be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959.
The family would like to thank Lorain Estates, Amherst Manor and Mercy New Life Hospice for the loving care they provided to Eva.
