Evaline "Bonnie" Root Greenwood, 88 of Vermilion, died Tuesday, May 13, 2008 at her home. She was born September 12, 1919 in Plymouth, OH and has been a Vermilion resident since 1945. She worked as a secretary for the Vermilion High School psychologists and counselors for over 20 years. Bonnie was a member of the Vermilion United Church of Christ Congregational and the Vermilion Boat Club where she sailed with the Wet Hens. She spent many winters in Tucson, AR where she enjoyed horseback riding. She also enjoyed reading, bicycling, boating, and swimming. Survivors include her daughter, Bonnie Ann Greenwood (Don) Paterson of Vermilion; son, Robert Root (Marcia) Greenwood of Canton, Georgia; 3 grandchildren: Nathan and Bethany Paterson, and Caitlin Greenwood; her sister-in-law, Tody Root, nephew, David (Deborah) Cox and niece, Robin Root Wallace. Preceding her in death were her husband, George Robert "Bud" Greenwood in 1970; parents, Halsey and Dorothea (nee Heath) Root; and brothers: William and Robert Root. Friends may call Saturday, May 17, 2008 from 1 p.m until the time of a memorial service at 2 p.m.at the Riddle Funeral Home 5345 South St. Vermilion.
